Morocco sailing expedition
Sail onboard of the ‘Cherokee’ to and along the coast of Morocco. The ‘Cherokee’ is a 50 feet sailing yacht with a Dutch skipper and boats man/cook.
In the summer of 2011 the ship will make 4 expeditions to Morocco and she can host 8 guests on board each trip. These sailing trips are a combination of active sailing, sightseeing onshore, adventure and off course relaxation.
On the first trip the ‘Cherokee’ sails from Portugal along the coast of the Algarve, allowing everybody to adapt to the ship and the sailing. The next day and night, the ship will cross over to Assilah in the north of Morocco. From there the ‘Cherokee’ will sail in daytrips to Casablanca. The ship will stay a whole day in Rabat, where you can visit the city.
It is possible to book an extra day in Casablanca. Organised in cooperation with Sahara Travel, an onshore trip will be made in a Jeep, including a visit to Azemmour, a completly white village along steep banks. Picturesque Soeks will be visited as well where you will have time for a nice walk. Furthermore, a visit to the Kasbah from Boulaoune dating from the 18th century will be included in this daytrip.
From Casablanca the ‘Cherokee’ continues her sailing expedition in daytrips to Agadir. The distances between the ports are about 65 miles long. Therefore the ship will stay a whole day in El Jadida and Essaouira. Both cities are listed as Word Heritage by Unesco, so definitely worth a visit.
In Agadir it is possible to book an extra day for an onshore Jeep trip as well. This daytrip will depart directly from the ship to visit an area which is called the ‘honey route’, a wonderful area. A winding road with green oasis’s, beautiful hills and a river. You will be taken to a picturesque place where you can enjoy a nice dinner. Furthermore, the waterfalls of Imouzzer-des-Ida-Ouanane will be visited.
You can sail along; sailing experience is not necessary, because there is an experienced crew onboard. You can book as a single, couple or with friends or family.
